I used to live here in Ubihan, next to sitio Asana. My family still owns the fishpond. Half of my family moved to Canada and the other half in Sta. Maria. I've only been back here in Ubihan maybe twice ever since. I didn't like the typhoons, the earthquakes and the floods and too many mosquitoes. But now, I have appreciation of the simple life we had - no phones, limited electricity, fresh air, quiet surroundings...well except maybe during the New Year. Back then, there were more times to contemplate about life, relax and be artistic. One of my fondest memories was crossing a bridge in Linad on the way home from school, with nothing to hold on and it's full of mud because it just rained. I cried because it was very slippery but you learned how to be tenacious and I crossed that bridge regardless. I miss everything about this place and I wish I could stay for more than a day next time we come back.
