Barangay Malhakan

HISTORY OF BARANGAY MALHAKAN

As of now, Barangay Malhakan is one of the richest barangay in Meycauayan.Located at the eastern part of the town. It is 0.64 kms.

The name Malhakan came from the word “Mahal na Angkan”. When people doesn’t have there permanent homes. They are like beggars. After many years had passed, there was a slave Spanish came to the place named Don Sebastian de Francia. He lived in that place with his family. Don Sebastian was a quiet, kind, industrious, and cooperative. Because of his attitude, the community people loved him. His livelihood was improved with many people and he attract to live beside him. When Don Sebastian was dead, his son, Miguel inherits all of his treasures and important items. In the time of Don Miguel Francia, he build the “bayan-bayanan” included the Marilao and Lolomboy. In 1588 a strong typhoon and shocking earthquake happened that cause the bayan-bayanan to worry about. After that disaster, “Mahal na Angkan” governance was gone. 

When Don Miguel Francia died, his son, Cipriano build a house that looks like a castle. Kapitan de “francia” was more improved. When he died his treasures were divided into his two sons, named Felipe and Alejo. The word “mga mahal na angkan”get them popular. From that they on, Francia family’s money got bigger and bigger until they called Malhakan that came from the word ”mahal na angkan”.
