                                                HISTORY OF MALHACAN

       As of now, Barangay Malhacan is one of the richest barangay in Meycauayan.Located at the eastern part of the town. It is 0.64 kms.

The name Malhacan came from the word “Mahal na Angkan”. When people doesn’t have there permanent homes. They are like beggars. After many years had passed, there was a slave Spanish came to the place named Don Sebastian de Francia. He lived in that place with his family. Don Sebastian was a quiet, kind, industrious, and cooperative. Because of his attitude, the community people loved him. His livelihood was improved with many people and he attract to live beside him. When Don Sebastian was dead, his son, Miguel inherits all of his treasures and important items. In the time of Don Miguel Francia, he build the “bayan-bayanan” included the Marilao and Lolomboy. In 1588 a strong typhoon and shocking earthquake happened that cause the bayan-bayanan to worry about. After that disaster, “Mahal na Angkan” governance was gone.
      

When Don Miguel Francia died, his son, Cipriano build a house that looks like a castle. Kapitan
 de “francia” was more improved. When he died his treasures were divided into his two sons, named Felipe and Alejo. The word “mga mahal na angkan”get them popular. From that they on, Francia family’s money got bigger and bigger until they called Malhakan that came from the word  ”mahal na angkan”.

I.                   GEOGRAPHY
                
A.    Geographical Location – It is one of the 26 barangays of the municipality of Meycauayan. Located at the eastern part of the town. It is 0.64 kms. From municipal building.
B.     Land area – 307, 438 sq. meters (3.07438 sq. kms.)
C.     Terrain – About 90% of the total area is 0 – 15 slope category and 105 of its part elevated up to 10 meters. Above sea level of categorized slope as 2 – 5%.
D.    .Season – Dry and wet.

II.                SOCIOLOGY

A.    Demography

1.      Population
Based on the 1995 Survey on Population, there were 22,495 inhabitants in Barangay Malhakan. The recently concluded 2000 NSO Survey registered 21,509 inhabitants, a decrease of 986 or 4.38%. It is the most populated barangay in Meycauayan with a 13.1927% of the total municipal population of 163,037.
